Tigers acquired OF Mark Canha from the Brewers for RHP Blake Holub.

Well, this certainly qualifies as a surprise. It’s a cost-cutting measure for Milwaukee, who would’ve had to make a decision on Canha’s $11.5 million club option for 2024, which also includes a $2 million buyout. The 34-year-old on-base machine was excellent for the Brewers down the home stretch this past season after being acquired at the trade deadline from the Mets, slashing .287/.373/.427 with five homers, 33 RBI and four steals in 204 plate appearances over 50 contests. His over-the-fence power production figures to take a slight hit at Detroit’s pitcher-friendly Comerica Park, but he should slot in as a middle-of-the-order run-producing threat for the Tigers’ rebuilding lineup. He’s still capable of producing double-digit homers, while also chipping in the occasional stolen base, for traditional fantasy formats. However, his value remains exponentially higher in on-base formats. Nov 04 1:29 pm (EST)
