However, we look to bounce back today with a full slate of games and MLB player props over on Underdog Fantasy. My top MLB picks and player props over on Underdog Fantasy this afternoon features Tyler Wells of the Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds starter Ben Lively, and Colorado Rockies slugger Ryan McMahon. Without further ado, let's dive into the top MLB player picks on Underdog Fantasy for Sunday, June 4th.
Ryan McMahon, Colorado Rockies - OVER 8.5 Fantasy Points
While Singer has been pitching slightly better of late, allowing only a 4.35 ERA across his last four starts, his issues against left-handed hitters haven’t gone away. Over his last four starts, lefties have slashed .311/.404/.489 with a 55.6 percent hard hit rate against him. For the season as a whole, lefties are slashing .294/.388/.546 with a 49.5 percent hard hit rate. McMahon has been red hot of late, notching multiple hits in three straight games, and in seven of his last ten. Over his last six games, all of which have been on the road, McMahon has a .458 average, .558 wOBA, 244 wRC+, and to help boost that fantasy point total, he has five runs scored and six RBI. McMahon has an .886 OPS against right-handed pitching this season, and over the last 30 days, he’s hitting .317 with an .893 OPS and 141 wRC+ on the road.
Tyler Wells, Baltimore Orioles - OVER 5.5 Strikeouts
A line of 5.5 strikeouts for a guy who has seven or more in four straight starts going up against a team with the fourth-highest strikeout rate over the last two weeks against right-handers? Well, sign me up! The Giants have the third-highest strikeout rate against righties for the 2023 season as a whole, so this isn’t just a recent issue plaguing the Giants. During this four-start run, he has a 35.9 percent strikeout rate against left-handers, and his fastball/changeup one-two punch should fare well against a Giants lineup that figures to run out at least four lefties, with the possibility of up to six.
Ben Lively, Cincinnati Reds - OVER 5 Strikeouts
As a starter for the Reds this season, Lively has been great, posting a 2.08 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 32.8 percent strikeout rate. His matchups have come against the Red Sox, Cardinals, and Yankees. Those are teams that are all better than the league average in terms of strikeout rate against righties this season. Now, he gets to face a Brewers team that has the 11th-highest strikeout rate against righties in 2023, and over the last two weeks, they have a 24.5 percent strikeout rate (ninth-highest) against righties. His slider is generating a ton of whiffs, and this pitch should wreak havoc on this Milwaukee lineup.
