Prediction: Version1 wins 2-0 (13-8 Icebox / 13-11 Ascent)

At Open Qualifier #1, Version1 had the highest average combat score as a team with 236.4 ACS across 12 maps played. They took down Rise, Akrew, Complexity, Kowareta, New Moon, and Team 605 without dropping a single map, so their form has been excellent as of late. Knights made some noise themselves, including a win against TSM, but ultimately, they failed to qualify at the first qualifier after running into NRG in the lower bracket. However, Knights had a much more favorable showing at Open Qualifier #2, only dropping a single map against Built By Gamers during their upper bracket run. Thus, both teams are playing well at the moment, which means we could certainly be in for a close series. Note: these teams did play in November 2021, but both rosters have changed since.

We can expect to see Knights pick Ascent, which has been their best map by far as they are currently on a 29 map win streak. Version1 typically ban Bind to start, so Ascent should be available for Knights to pick. As for V1, they will likely pick Icebox or Haven here. Version1 would be considered a favorite on either map, especially given the fact that they went 3-0 on both maps during the open qualifiers, though Knights were solid on both during that time with a 3-2 W/L record on Icebox and a 1-1 record on Ascent. Overall, Knights should be able to keep things relatively close on V1’s map pick, and Knights are a live underdog on their own map pick given their recent dominance on Ascent, so Version1 will likely have to work hard for this win. I could see this going to three maps if Knights are able to win on Ascent, but either way, the first two maps of this series should be really competitive.

PICK: Zellsis (Version 1) - OVER 81.5 Fantasy Score vs Knights (Maps 1-2) - 6:00 PM ET

Zellsis has been playing extremely well recently as demonstrated by his 1.53 Rating at Open Qualifier #1. He has been playing a lot of KAY/O recently, which is an agent that can pick up a tremendous amount of assists. He managed an impressive 0.63 assists per round across 202 rounds played at the open qualifier, along with 0.92 kills per round. He has played in some blowouts in the past two weeks, but the numbers still seem to indicate that the over will hit with ease if Knights are able to win some rounds and keep things tight.

Last three results on Ascent:

13-3 Win vs. Third Impact | Agent: KAY/O | 12 Kills, 10 Assists, 34 Fantasy Score in 16 rounds

13-8 Win vs. DarkZero Esports | Agent: KAY/O | 18 Kills, 14 Assists, 50 Fantasy Score in 21 rounds

13-3 Win vs. Nightblood Gaming | Agent: KAY/O | 13 Kills, 12 Assists, 38 Fantasy Score in 16 rounds

Last three results on Icebox:

10-13 Loss vs. Reformed | Agent: Killjoy | 19 Kills, 4 Assists, 42 Fantasy Score in 23 rounds

13-5 Win vs. Andbox | Agent: Killjoy | 19 Kills, 5 Assists, 43 Fantasy Score in 18 rounds

13-8 Win vs. DarkZero Esports | Agent: Sage | 14 Kills, 9 Assists, 37 Fantasy Score in 21 rounds

PICK: skuba (Knights) - OVER 70.5 Fantasy Score vs. V1 (Maps 1-2) - 6:00 PM ET

Skuba was perhaps the MVP of Open Qualifier #2 with a 1.45 Rating across 13 maps played. He plays the Controller role, but that did not stop him from being one of the top fraggers at the open qualifier with 0.97 kills per round across 249 rounds played, along with 0.32 assists per round. Knights are the underdogs here and I am not expecting them to win the series, but I think we are getting a discount on skuba’s projection since his team is the underdog, and I expect him and his team to overperform in this spot.

Last three results on Ascent:

13-9 Win vs. Akrew | Agent: Astra | 25 Kills, 4 Assists, 54 Fantasy Score in 21 rounds

13-8 Win vs. The Guard | Agent: Astra | 21 Kills, 7 Assists, 49 Fantasy Score in 21 rounds

13-4 Win vs. Built By Gamers Academy | Agent: Astra | 23 Kills, 5 Assists, 51 Fantasy Score in 17 rounds

Last three results on Icebox:

13-10 Win vs. Akrew | Agent: Viper | 28 Kills, 5 Assists, 61 Fantasy Score in 23 rounds

13-8 Win vs. The Guard | Agent: Viper | 19 Kills, 6 Assists, 44 Fantasy Score in 21 rounds

7-13 Loss vs. Built By Gamers Academy | Agent: Viper | 14 Kills, 7 Assists, 35 Fantasy Score in 20 rounds

TL;DR

Zellsis (Version 1) - OVER 81.5 Fantasy Score vs Knights (Maps 1-2) - 6:00 PM ET

skuba (Knights) - OVER 70.5 Fantasy Score vs. V1 (Maps 1-2) - 6:00 PM ET
