Underdog NBA Top Picks October 28

Kyle Kuzma, Washington Wizards – Over 19.5 Points

The season is still young, but that does not mean we are not beginning to get some actionable data. One data point shows us that, to this point, the Indiana Pacers are 30th in the NBA in points allowed at 122 per game. That lines up perfectly for the Washington Wizards to have success tonight, and Kuzma happens to be one of their key offensive options.

In three of four games this season, Kuzma has eclipsed 19.5 points per game, and what I do like is that he did not just squeak by as scored 22, 26, and 25 points while also slipping in a dud against Cleveland in which he scored just 11 points. This is already the second time Washington is facing Indiana this season, and Kuzma scored 22 points against the Pacers in the season opener.

Kuzma has been pacing Washington’s offense to this point, and in what should be a high-scoring game, I would expect that to continue as Monte Morris has done a good job of running the offense for the Wizards. With Delon Wright sidelined tonight, Bradley Beal might slide into more of a playmaking role so that could open up a few more shot attempts for Kuzma as well.

Fred VanVleet, Toronto Raptors – Over 7 Assists

To say that it has not been an ideal start to the season for Philadelphia would be an understatement, and VanVleet and the Raptors get to take advantage of that tonight. From an assist perspective, it is a favorable matchup for the Toronto guard with the 76ers ranking 22nd in the league allowing an average of 26.8 points per game.

After a slow start to the season, VanVleet has broken this mark in four straight games and is averaging 8.2 assists per game overall as Toronto’s lead playmaker as the offense runs through the point guard.
