DFS Value Pitchers

Jordan Lyles (BAL); DraftKings - $6,700; FanDuel - $7,300; Yahoo - $28

The version of Lyles we see at home is quite different from what we get from him on the road, and that provides us with a buying opportunity tonight. In 74 innings at home this season, Lyles has a 3.77 ERA while allowing just five home runs. We do not get the strikeout upside from the right-hander at home, but he has 80 strikeouts in 87 innings on the road, and it is if he is two different pitchers. For that reason, it also comes in handy tonight that Lyles is facing perhaps the worst offense in the league in the Tigers as they are hitting just .229 on the season with a wRC+ of just 80. Against right-handed pitching, the Tigers are actually worse as they are batting just .216 on the season.

Bailey Ober (MIN); DraftKings - $7,700; FanDuel - $7,100; Yahoo - $34

This is just the second start for Ober since June 1st as a groin injury sent him to the Injured List. Ober was a popular sleeper pick heading into the season and with a 3.49 ERA (2.80 FIP) and 1.16 WHIP in 38.2 innings you could say he has delivered but his health simply has not allowed him to spend much time on the field. In his first start back, Ober threw five shutout innings while allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out five. The lengthy absence helped to depress his price here and it is a soft-landing spot for the right-hander tonight against Kansas City.
DFS Value Hitters

DFS Value Hitters

Joey Bart (SF); DraftKings - $2,500; FanDuel - $2,600; Yahoo - $11

Coors Field is another variable that comes into play tonight, and Bart provides us exposure to that at quite a discount. Granted the performance has dictated the price but the catcher does have 11 home runs on the season in 256 plate appearances so we are working with some power upside and Colorado only amplifies that. The issue for Bart has been his 38.3% strikeout rate but with a 10.5% barrel-rate and                                                                                  a 16-degree average launch angle, good things can happen when he puts the bat on the ball. Germán Márquez has a 6.78 ERA at Coors Field so far this season, and that can work in Bart’s favor as well as a cheap part of any Giants stack.

Michael Toglia, 1B/OF (COL); DraftKings - $3,600; FanDuel - $2,600; Yahoo - $17

The pitching matchup for Toglia is a little more difficult on this side of the equation, but it is also quite difficult to pass him up based on the price which means he fits very nicely into most lineups and any Colorado or Coors Field stacks. Toglia had a strong three-hit effort on Monday, including two triples, as he drove in two runs and filled up the box score. The rookie picked up another hit on Tuesday to bring his average to .231 on the season after hitting 30 home runs between Double-A and Triple-A prior to his promotion.

Joc Pederson, OF (SF); DraftKings - $5,100; FanDuel - $2,700; Yahoo - $18

I am staying in Colorado for this one as it is quite difficult to pass on Pederson with the platoon advantage against Marquez while also enjoying the Coors Field benefit. In 86.2 innings, left-handers are hitting .282 against Marquez and have 16 home runs while Pederson has 20 home runs in 299 at bats under the same circumstances while hitting .268 with 54 RBI. It is hard not to like Pederson’s batted ball metrics with his 15.5% barrel-rate and 53.9% hard-hit rate.

Luis Rengifo, 2B/3B (LAA); DraftKings- $4,400; FanDuel - $2,700; Yahoo - $17

While we cannot go into this expecting a third game this week of Rengifo hitting two home runs, it is also hard to ignore how successful he has been for the Angels as of late. Over the last 10 games, he is hitting .282 with four home runs, seven RBI and six runs scored to bring his average for the season up to .275 with 15 home runs, 47 RBI, and 41 runs scored while only striking out 15.2% of the time.
