CBB DFS Top Guards
Colby Jones- Xavier @ Texas ($8.6K DK/$7.7K FD)
Colby Jones carried Xavier throughout the Big East Tournament as he brought them back from a double-digit deficit against DePaul, with some awesome late drives and tough shot-making and then a huge double-double performance in a rout over Creighton. He also just went for 10 points, 14 boards and seven assists to lead Xavier past Pittsburgh into the Sweet 16. This is a versatile player with intangibles that has the size and floater game to take over tonight against Texas. Jones is averaging over 34 DKFP over his last five games and is a top guard pay up on the slate along with Marcus Sasser even though he may be more fitted for a GPP play due to some of the big forwards that you may want to lean towards in cash games.
Trey Alexander- Creighton vs. Princeton ($7.0K DK/$6.4K FD)
Sophomore guard Trey Alexander earned All-Big East honorable mention after averaging 14.7 points in conference play (15.6 over his final 18 games) while also averaging 3.9 rebounds, 2.8 assist and shooting 43.8% from beyond on the arc. He is coming off one of his best games of the season with 17 points, eight boards and five assists (36 DKFP) against Baylor and will be a popular play tonight in the Sweet Sixteen game with Princeton.
OTHER TOP GUARDS:
Marcus Sasser, Houston ($8.0K DK/$6.8K FD)- This is Sasser season. The UH veteran plays for March and is one of the top pay ups on the slate. He can easily eclipse 40 DKFP tonight and has to be considered a cash play with a $600 discount from Colby Jones. I will have Sasser representation in many lineups tonight.
Ryan Nembhard, Creighton ($7.1K DK/$6.5K FD)- Nembhard stuffs the stat sheet (12.3 PPG; 4.0 RPG and 4.8 APG) and makes for the perfect pivot off of what should be a more popular Trey Alexander in GPPs. With the ball in his hands at all times Nembhard is coming off a 41DKFP game against Baylor on a career-high 30 points on eight-of-13 shooting.
Marcus Carr, Texas ($7.4K DK/$7.1K FD)- All Texas guards are in play as they face an Xavier defense ranked 341st against the guard position. Carr may be popular tonight due to the game environment.
Sir’Jabari Rice, Texas ($6.7K DK/$6.2K FD)- All Texas guards are in play as they face an Xavier defense ranked 341st against the guard position. If Marcus Carr draws the ownership, I have no problem pivoting to Rice who is averaging 26% usage and DKFP over his last five games.
Jahvon Quinerly, Alabama ($6.4K DK/$5.5K FD)- Quinerly has now started five straight games and has put up 30+ DKFP in two of his last three. He is at his cheapest price point in four games and is fully in play tonight in all formats.
Ryan Langborg, Princeton ($6.3K DK/$5.6K FD)- Langborg is coming off a highly efficient performance against Missouri where he scored 22 points with six rebounds and four assists (39.0 DKFP) and on the season is averaging 12.3 points, 3.1 rebounds with 51 assists, 22 steals and 18 blocked shots. Langborg’s price on DK is very fair on a slate where we will be forced to go mid-range price due to a lack of safe value. I love Langborg as a safe point per dollar cash play tonight.
Tramon Mark, Houston ($6.9K DK/$5.4K FD)- Mark is coming off a career-high 26 points (39 DKFP) against Auburn and can exploit a Hurricane interior that is ranked 246th in the nation in field goal percentage allowed (51%).
TOP CBB DFS GUARD VALUE
Tyrese Hunter – Texas vs. Xavier ($5.4K DK/$4.7K FD)
Tyrse Hunter is back to being Tyrese Hunter. Last year’s Big 12 Freshman of the Year at Iowa State transferred to the Longhorns and struggled a bit this winter but seems to be just fine now that it’s March. Tonight, he gets a pace up with the highest over/under of the slate (149), and it may be a gut call but Hunter could be in for an above-average scoring night like we saw in early January when he torched Kansas State for 29 points (39 DKFP). He may not score that many points again, but he is capable of stepping up big time especially when he is averaging 36 minutes per game in the tourney and facing an Xavier defense ranking 341st against guards.
OTHER TOP GUARD VALUE:
Micah Parrish, San Diego State ($4.8K DK/$4.7K FD)- Parrish is volatile and scoring dependent (11 shots/five three-point attempts against Furman) but the floor spacer could have a game tonight as Alabama's opponents have shot beyond the arc on 30.1% of the time (11th across all Division 1 teams). If Parrish gets hot, he could easily hit 4-6X value tonight as a GPP flyer.
Bensley Joseph, Miami ($4.3K DK/$4.2K FD)- Wooga Poplar is a game time decision and hasn’t practiced all week which could put Joseph and Harlond Beverly in play as value punts. Joseph is only $4.3K on DK and would become a huge bargain on a value starved slate. He played 22 minutes against Indiana and produced 27.8 DKFP (seven points, five rebounds, five assists, one block, two steals) and if he gets 20+ minutes again he will easily make value.
TOP CBB DFS FORWARDS
Dylan Disu- Texas vs. Xavier ($7.6K DK/$7.0K FD)
Dylan Disu’s incredible postseason run culminated on Saturday with a season-high 28 points in the win over Penn State. His new trademark “push” shot has become a staple as Disu has scored in double figures in seven of the last eight games after breaking through with a 24-point performance in a late February loss to Baylor. With defenses deciding to trap ball screens for Longhorns guard Marcus Carr, the middle of the lane has opened up for Disu and he’s made opponents pay with the addition of his push shot. Disu has been lights out and is averaging 17.8 points on 39-of-54 shooting (72.2 %) and nine rebounds in the five games while adding seven steals, earning Most Outstanding Player in the Big 12 Tourney during that stretch. In the first two games of the NCAA Tournament, Disu has been incredibly efficient with 1.45 points per possession, averaging 22.2 points per game.
Norchad Omier- Miami @ Houston ($7.7K DK/$7.6K FD)
Omier was doubtful for the NCAA Tournament, and Drake over Miami in the first round became a popular upset pick but the big guy made a miraculous recovery and is a key reason the Hurricanes find themselves in the Sweet Sixteen against Houston. Omier’s rebounding prowess has already led to comparisons with former NBA star Dennis Rodman, but he is going to have his hands full with the Cougars' tough frontcourt. Still, Omier has one of the best shots of the slate for a double-double and should play the entire game if he can stay out of foul trouble (4.1 FC/40). With a 15.9% offensive rebounding rate (11th in the nation) and 41.9% combined rate Omier is coming off a dominant performance in the Canes win over Indiana where he pulled down 17 boards (32.8 DKFP) and he has a great shot of repeating that performance tonight.
OTHER TOP FORWARDS:
Jack Nunge, Xavier ($8.2K DK/$8.1K FD)- The Longhorns frontcourt is undersized and big Jack Nunge has an opportunity to dominate tonight. With a 30% combined rebound and 4% block rate Nunge can dominate the glass and put up a 50-burger.
Brandon Miller, Alabama ($8.8K DK/$8.8K FD)- Miller is battling a groin injury but did play 34 minutes against Maryland and looked fine scoring 28 DKFP on what was still a bad shooting night. A sub-$9K Brandon Miller is in play on any night as the elite stud that is ranked fourth on the KenPom Player of the Year could totally nuke the entire slate.
Jarace Walker, Houston ($7.5K DK/$6.8K FD)- Walker is a borderline NBA lottery pick and over his last nine games, he’s averaged 16 points, seven rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 53% from the field and 43.8% on nearly four three point attempts per contest. I will have at least one mini stack that includes Sasser, Mark and Walker in a GPP.
Timmy Allen, Texas ($6.4K DK/$6.0K FD)- Anyone that follows me knows that I have played Timmy Allen more than anyone over the last few years in DFS. He is a stud and now gets his chance to shine as a low owned pivot off of teammate Disu. Allen plays nearly every minute and is the heart and soul of the Longhorns squad. He is coming off a solid 30 DKFP game against Penn State and we can expect more of the same tonight.
Charles Bediako, Alabama ($6.3K DK/$5.9K FD)- Bediako has turned into a near walking double-double with two out in his last three games that includes a 10 point/10 rebound effort against Maryland last weekend (31.0 DKFP). It is a pace down tonight but does San Diego State have anyone that can contain him?
CBB DFS TOP FORWARD VALUE
Nathan Mensah- San Diego State @ Alabama ($5.4K DK/$4.5K FD)
Nathan Mensah will not win us a GPP with his offensive skills, but he is one heck of a defensive player. The fifth year starting center and primary rim protector for the Aztecs now has multiple blocks in four consecutive games and is the the team leader in rebounds (5.9) and blocks (1.6) per game. Mensah’s 12.6% offensive rebound rate is 74th in the nation and over his last four games he has grabbed at least eight boards in three of those matchups.
OTHER FORWARD VALUE
Jaedon LeDee, San Diego State ($5.5K DK/$4.9K FD)- Forward value is downright disgusting today and anyone under $6K is pretty much a dart. LeDee plays around 20 minutes and can hit the boards with a 13.6% offensive rebound rate (34.6% combined) that is ranked 42nd in the entire nation. He is capable of going ballistic like he did against Wyoming just three weeks ago (21 points and eight rebounds for 37 DKFP) but then will put up a performance like he did versus Furman last weekend where he scores only two points and two rebounds (12 DKFP).
