NBA Sleeper Top Picks & Plays

Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers

Embiid and the 76ers take on the Boston Celtics tonight as they look to establish some dominance in the Eastern Conference. The reigning league MVP is looking to show people that last year was no fluke as he is offer to an incredible start to the year, averaging 32.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 2.0 blocks per game.

The assists is where we are focusing in on tonight because right now Sleeper has his total listed at 4.5 assists for tonight's contest. Embiid has gone over this total in five of the six games this season, never having fewer than six assists in any of the contests where he has gone over this mark.

The Celtics are a good defensive team and will look to clamp down on Embiid with double-teams but with improved scoring from Tyrese Maxey and Kelly Oubre in the starting lineup we are seeing Embiid rack up the assists when teams look to shut him down.

Let's continue to ride Embiid's assist here while the projections are still not adjusting to his performances this year.

Pick: More than 4.5 Assists

UPDATED: Looks like this line got pulled down, he does have a 1.5 Assists 1Q line that I'm also good with pivoting too here.

Gordon Hayward, Charlotte Hornets

Another favorite play of mine this season in DFS has been the Hornets forward Gordon Hayward. Talent has never been the issue with Hayward, instead it has always been his health that has gotten in the way of his success since he left the Utah Jazz. So far this season Hayward has been healthy and he's been one of the best and most consistent members of the Hornets rotation this year. On the year Hayward is averaging 17.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. The rebound total is where we are focusing tonight as Sleeper lists the total at 4.5 for this matchup. The Wizards and Hornets have the highest game total on the board and expect to be playing at the fastest pace on the slate tonight. This means more possessions and in turn, more shot attempts. Those also create more rebounding opportunities. Hayward has gone over this total in four of the six games this season as he fell just a rebound shy against the Mavericks a few nights ago and had a random zero rebound effort against the Nets. Every other game this season Hayward has pulled down at least six boards. Let's hammer this total while it's still too low.

Pick: More than 4.5 Rebounds
