The 2023 NFL season kicks off this week and with its arrival comes the long-awaited return of NFL DFS. If daily fantasy football is your thing and you’re looking for top picks for your DraftKings and FanDuel contests, then this is exactly here you want to be. Welcome to the Fantasy Alarm NFL DFS Watch List, where we spend the entire week breaking down the weekly NFL match-ups and highlighting the players you will want to use in all of your NFL DFS contests. Whether you are a cash game player or you like to shoot for the moon in GPP tournaments, your DFS research begins right here.

If you've been with us for the past few years, you know what this is all about. Feel free to skip the intro and start diving into the players. If you're new to these parts, give the following a quick read and acquaint yourself with our DFS process here t Fantasy Alarm.

“If you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he’ll eat for a lifetime.”

We take this adage to heart when it comes to playing NFL DFS. The Fantasy Alarm Playbook isn’t just about handing you a list of players and a lineup to use each week based off our DFS projections. It is designed to help you learn to be a better DFS player. It’s about teaching you the process used in selecting which players to scout and, eventually, which ones to use.

Therefore, we will begin each week with the Weekly NFL DFS Watch List which is designed to keep tabs on marquee names, chalk plays and, of course, the weekly bargains who may not see the same coverage and exposure. This piece will be continuously updated throughout the week, based on the most recent news and injuries, which means you may see a name or two removed as we get closer to Sunday kick-off. You may also see a few late-week additions who pique our interest for some reason too, and by the end of the week, this Watch List will eventually become your Playbook. Again, it’s about teaching you the process.

NFL Week 1 is always the most difficult to break down. While you can look back at last season’s numbers and see which teams struggled the most against the pass or the run, that data may be outdated and, in some cases, irrelevant as coaches, player personnel and schemes change so often from year-to-year. A team that struggled mightily against the run last year, for example, may have added some help on the defensive line, thus fortifying their weakness. The same can be said about a weak secondary from 2022 which changed from zone to man-to-man coverage. We’ll still be able to use some of the data, but as we’ve seen before, it takes a few weeks before we spot some of the more noticeable trends.

**Please Note: The Weekly NFL DFS Watch List only covers the Main Slate contests for DraftKings and FanDuel. While some people like to play the “Thursday through Sunday slate,” we prefer to isolate the main slate given the ever-changing news and injury reports. Building a lineup that spans games over a five-day period can be problematic, especially with breaking news leading right up to the Sunday night game. Instead, we cover the Thursday Night, Sunday Night and Monday Night football games with individual DFS Showdown Playbooks.

Once you have gone through the Watch List and checked for updates each day, you should then continue to check out the rest of our NFL DFS tools. Out NFL DFS projections are also updated throughout the week, we have an outstanding DFS Player Comparison tool and, of course, a DFS Lineup Generator that has routinely been improved every season. Building and adjusting lineups throughout the week is always helpful as you never know when something will happen and reveal a DFS bargain play that wasn’t even on your radar.

All set? Great! Now, let's get to work…
