It has been a wild ride in the NFL this season with many surprises and upsets. Survivor pools have been difficult. The Circa Survivor contest is one of the popular pools and 93.8 percent of participants are eliminated after six weeks compared to 45.5 percent at this time last season. The Buccaneers, Packers, and 49ers were among the top selections that lost. My top pick of the Rams won last week, but the next two selections of Tampa Bay and Baltimore lost. In Week 7, five teams are favored by at least seven points, including one by double-digits.

NFL Week 7 Survivor Picks

1) New England Patriots

This looks like a complete mismatch with the best coach in Bill Belichick against an inept Bears offense, averaging 15.5 points. Quarterback Justin Fields has taken 23 sacks and has a completion percentage of 54.8%, which is the worst in the NFL, and is averaging 145 passing yards per game. The Patriots rank seventh in defensive DVOA, while the Bears are 30th in offensive DVOA. There's a chance Mac Jones will return for the Patriots and Rhamondre Stevenson has looked excellent the last two games with Damien Harris out. Rookie Tyquan Thornton adds some speed to the offense and scored two touchdowns last week. The Patriots defense forced four turnovers last week against the Browns and shut out the Lions the week before.

2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Are we going here again? The Buccaneers were listed here last week and had a stunning loss on the road to the Steelers. The Buccaneers are the biggest favorite of the week by 11 points on the road. Tampa Bay hasn't looked good on offense most of the season, but the Panthers are a mess. P.J. Walker will start at quarterback for the Panthers after going 10-for-16 for 60 yards last week against the Rams. The Panthers had a field goal on the opening drive and didn't score on the next nine possessions. The lone touchdown came on defense. The Panthers have scored 16 points or fewer in four of six games.

3) Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders host the Texans with both teams coming off a bye. While the Raiders are 1-4, they have been competitive in every game and had some bad losses. It started with a five-point loss in Week 1 to the Chargers. The worst loss came in Week 2 when the Raiders led 23-7 after three quarters before losing in overtime, 29-23.  Las Vegas also had a two-point loss to the Titans and a 30-29 loss to the Chiefs before the bye. The Texans offense has been awful. Davis Mills has five touchdowns and four interceptions in five games. This is the best spot to take the Raiders this season.

Last week: 1-2
Season: 12-5-1
